Wondering how to pay for goodies at the Auckland Art & Craft Fair? Well, aside from the regular tried and true, age old way of paying with cash — we will also be offering a special cash out system.
How it works...
Bring along your Eftpos or Debit Card to our special counter and you can get 'cash out' or in this case, special market money. All the market money will be in $5 notes and the market money is effectively our own currency for use at the one market. When you pay for your goods, your lovely vendor will give you change in real money, so you never lose out!
Does it cost anything?
There is a small fee of 50c per transaction when you get market money out. The best thing to do will be to look around the fair, decide on what you want and then get the money out.
Why our money is super special....
We have asked the lovely, super nice and very talented Illustrator, Sarah McNeil to design our lovely market money, which is why it may be a little hard to part with it! Each Fair we will have new market money, which is why at the Auckland Art & Craft Fair, money really is art... Check out some of her work below:

Foreword...
Welcome to the blog of the Auckland Art & Craft Fair — Brought to you by the Auckland Craft Collective, this will be a one of a kind event happening for the very first time on Saturday 24th of July 2010 at the prestigious Auckland Art Gallery.
We aim for the Auckland Art & Craft Fair (Fair) to be held only twice a year (Summer and Winter) each will have a selection of New Zealands best contemporary and independent Designers, Artists and Crafters available, selling their wares direct to the public for one day only.
The Auckland Craft Collective is a project of Jessica Whiting and Kylie Richardson and is a resource for providing practical business support to the Auckland craft community. The Fair is a natural progression to not only help behind the scenes (by the educational evenings that the Craft Collective host) but to also help put together a selling platform that is marketed and advertised professionally and helps vendors present themselves and their businesses in a unique way to potential customers, clients and suppliers.
The Fair will be a destination event that customers can look forward to and make a day of being in the heart of the Auckland CBD. Available on the day for customers will be EftPos facilities, along with everything that the Auckland Art Gallery has to offer including Reuben Cafe and the amazing Parsons bookshop, not to mention all the exhibitions on at the gallery — so something for everyone. Saturday $4 parking is available for vendors and visitors that use the Victoria Street Car Park with a special discount voucher from the gallery. With the Fair being held inside, it will be lovely and cosy for our guests, no matter the weather.
Each vendor will be chosen for their focus on quality products, craftsmanship, ingenuity that all are well designed and well executed. With independent Photographers, Artists, Illustrators, Jewellers, Fashion Designers, Homeware Designers and more, coming together for customers to make a purchase will soul and take home something different and unique, while supporting this home grown industry.
Keep posted by following our blog and interested vendors can click the link to the right to apply, be quick as applications close at 4pm Friday 14th May 2010 and spaces are very limited for this unique event...
